Frequently-Asked Questions

Q: Not every class has a 25-year reunion. Why are you doing this?

A: Well, if you can manage to remember any previous class reunions or parties, you already know the answer -- because it's a lot of fun, catching up and making new memories with great old friends.

Q: How can I be sure I am registered?

A: Go to the Who is Registered page and look for your name. The list is updated daily, so don't worry if you're not listed immediately. Just give it a few hours. If you registered and do not see your name within 24 hours, contact us to check the status of your transaction.

Remember, your name will not be listed as officially registered until you get a ticket. And you won't get a ticket until you pay for it!

Q: Should I bring my spouse?

A: Whatever works for you. We estimate that about half our classmates will bring their significant others. It's OK either way. For example, you may choose to take part in the "unofficial" events on your own, with your spouse coming to just the Saturday evening dinner and dance. You may want to rent a hotel room in Guelph, which could perhaps give your family or spouse the freedom to plan their own day and a place to rest if they get tired of watching you hang out with old friends.

Q: What should I wear?

A: You might want to dress up a bit for Saturday's dinner and dance, but all unofficial events are informal. Cutoffs and tank-tops are probably a bit too casual for the golf social. And if you have the nerve to wear that same outfit from the memorable 1983 Acton High Toga Party, then you could possibly gain the respect of all your old classmates!

Q: What are the seating arrangements at dinner? Can I request a specific seat?

A: We'll be sitting at tables of eight. We'll do our very best to sit you at a table with all your requested friends if you let us know their names. If you know names of a full table of eight who wish to sit together, let us know.

Q: Why are the dinner and dance being held in Guelph and not Acton?

A: From the input we received, Guelph offered one key advantage -- lots of hotel rooms for folks who don't live in the immediate vicinity. We were concerned with sending people home on long drives right after a big party, and Acton still has a scarcity of hotel rooms.

We considered a number of venues in Guelph before selecting the Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn offered us a far better price for dinner than the location where we held our 15-year reunion, which helped us keep the ticket price low. Also, the Holiday Inn will be hosting this year's Acton High graduation formal.

Finally, we are having Friday's unofficial events (school tour and pub night) in Acton. Saturday morning's unofficial golf event, too.

Q: The Friday get-togethers and Saturday golf sound like fun, but I'm a very busy person. Would it be OK if I just showed up to the dinner and dance on Saturday night?

A: Of course. The dinner+dance is the only "official" reunion event. The school tour, pub night and golf social will be fun, but they are peripheral. We've added these unofficial things because there was interest -- and because it's impossible to catch up with many old friends during just a dinner and dance.

It will all be over very quickly, so please try to make a weekend of it. You might even want to schedule a farewell brunch with friends on Sunday morning. There are lots of good places for brunch in Guelph, including the Holiday Inn.
